I went to the local preschool and have so many fond memories of the area- the road being closed off for myriad of craft, costume and candy stalls, miniature ferris wheels and the obligatory jumping castle. My first bicycle was bought secondhand there, and I distinctly remember being the last of the children left at the festivities. Whilst my mother and the kindergarten teacher were sharing a coffee, my sister and I were allowed to use tarps and a hose to make waterslides, and also happily ate an entire 2L tub of NEOPOLITAN ICE-CREAM. Cue my own neopolitan dreams...
The new "Rosalie Mews" complex was originally home to a cobblestone pavillion that adjoined Tomato Brothers and Freestyle Cafe- the latter which specialised in flamboyant, epically decadent ice-cream based desserts. However, since that's been closed, Gelatissmo does incredible gelati as a sweet tooth replacement. But one can't go past Cold Rock in terms of tastiness and fun. Try the bubblegum ice-cream with skittles and gummy bears. It's like a magical mystery tour for your tastebuds.
Plus, there's Grill'd, my former place of employment, whose burgers are top-notch- big, healthy, well-prepared and packed with vegetables. The chips cant miss a mention either: being specifically informed whilst working there to cook them until they are deep gold, then tossing them with herb and salt mix (it contains rosemary, but keep that on the low-down.) Sadly competing with the holy land of burgers is Wok Me, specialising in incredible stirfries. It does free delivery, too, so go right ahead and order some Tom Yum soup right now. Just have a bowl of cucumber next to you, it is radioactively hot.
However, onto lunch. I'm silly and I collect menus from almost everywhere- but the spelling mistakes in this one are just adorable.

Mints Vietnamese & Asian Cuisine is only recently opened and from the outset, it looks like so much fun. Everything, including most of the food, is lime green. There's even light green napkins with mint leaves printed on them at the tables!
With Vietnamese being my favourite cultural cuisine, I was comfortable the moment I went in. I had the Marinated Chicken Vermicilli Salad Bowl- at $12.90, it was a large serve, perhaps too large for me. Next time, I may ask for a half-sizzed serve and hopefully I'll get it for half the price. Still, it was one of the best meals I have ever had- incredibly fresh, light and flavoursome, with hints of (naturally) mint and beautifully prepared chicken. The salad of assorted lettuces, sprouts and vegetables was deliciously crunchy, and unearthing the base of steamed vermicelli made my toes wiggle, it was as if I'd found burried treasure. I promptly mixed it all together so that I didn't miss an inch of taste. I recommend that on eating it, one makes use of the light chili dressing and pours the whole lot over your tasty prize: truly, dousing the meal in it only makes it even more appetising. If that was even possible.
