Hello Kate,
It was very nice to talking with you yesterday at the Bus Stop 40. Hope you have catched your bus without long waiting.
Many meaningful books (my mentors) to me are written in Chinese. The following by German writer/poet Hermann Hesse (part of my dream, wonderings) are for enlightening of our spirit/soul:
Demian,
Narcissus and Goldmund,
Siddhaltha,
Peter Camenzind,
Wandering,
Gertrud,
Beneath the Well,
Steppenwolf,
Journey to the East.
Hope one day you have a chance to visit UQ (one of the most beautiful places) and we resume our inspiring conversation.
Simone

On Thursday afternoon, I was waiting at my bus-stop when a friendly Korean woman and I started chatting.
We spoke for fifteen minutes about how she is a humanitarian lawyer and Eastern philosophies; I'm amazed that I was able to so easily hold my own whilst talking to a practising Buddhist about the religion.
She was very impressed when I likened samsara, or cyclical re-incarnation, to "a snake swallowing its own tail".
We were so immersed in the subject that whilst I was writing my email address down for her, I missed my bus.
I find so often that conversations with people whom one has only just met are more profound than those one has with well-known friends.
I suppose that's due to the fact that there is a sense of urgency and strange necessity of communication whilst waiting for the bus.
